inky blue fingers

Yay!!! Its the weekend! We're only less than 2 weeks into summer vacation and I can already tell its going to be a LONG summer, lol! I always look forward to the weekends because they normally offer a change of scenery when we take day trips. Tomorrow we are heading up north to check out a cool Lego store with the boys. Legos are one thing that they will sit and do together. Since they have some birthday money burning a whole in their pockets and since I'm all for a quiet activity they can do peacefully together it sounded like the perfect trip. Now I just have to remember to check online to see if there are any cool scrapping or stamping stores around there.

This month for Memoryvilla I received some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and stencils to work with. I instantly started playing around seeing what I could color with them. Now remember, paints and I don't mix too well. I usually end up with a messy scraproom to clean up and this time was no exception except it was my hands that were a mess. The blue smurf like fingers? Yeah, well they only lasted for about a day.

The following card I used the Glimmer Mist in two ways. I sprayed a bit on a craft sheet and used it as watercolor as can be seen in the flowers. I also tried spraying it directly on a piece of paper. I used the backside of photo paper(Office Depot high gloss) for this techique. I embossed the paper with Versamark and clear EP. Now here's the fun part. When you heat the photo paper to emboss it, the coating on the paper on the paper bubbles slightly leaving a cool subtle texture. Will this work on the front of the paper also? Probably, but I just happened to use the backside because it is a bit less glossy than the front. I then sprayed the paper with the Glimmer Mist. Because the paper is a bit slick the inks don't sink in much leaving a very light pretty color.
