cricut discovery (for me at least, LOL!)

don't faint....yes, that is a layout! I'm participating in an Summer Bash contest over at Dixie Pieces and this weeks challenge was to create a layout revealing your favorite summer scent. We also had to use stitching and the colors yellow, orange, green and a neutral.

supplies used:
cardstock: DCWV
die cut: Graphically Speaking (Provo Craft)
stamp (summer): Lizzie Anne Designs August Monthly Mix
rubons: 7gypies
stickers: Reminisce
pattern paper: Scenic Route
charm, brad and twine: unknown

journaling reads: "They all think I'm odd, but as soon as we near the beach I have to roll down the windows and take in the earthy smell of low tide. It instantly brings back fond memories of the shore and fishing off the boat. "

While diecutting the background for that layout, I noticed the cool dot paper scraps that were left on the cricut mat. I added wet adhesive to each and every dot, laid my cardstock down on top of the dots and allowed to dry. After a few minutes I carefully peeled up my cardstock and the dots were transfered to my cardstock in perfect pattern. cool, huh? I'm probably the last person to realize that the sticky mat can come in handy for transfering the images, but I was pretty darn happy with my discovery!

Okay, so you TOTALLY rock for thinking to KEEP your dots ON your mat, adding glue, and then simply putting your cardstock to it! I did a bookmark a couple of weeks ago (maybe a little longer) and glued each punched dot down individually on my cardstock......it definitely took a bit of time! ;->

I really like your layout too! Ya know, the smell of the ocean is something that I love to breathe in when I arrive on the coast. An immediate sense of peace washes over me when I can breathe that in. Glad to know someone who loves it as much! :>

Wendy, your layout and card are fabulous! I would have never thought of using the little dots on the cutting mat, especially how you did it. AWESOME!

OMGosh, how cute and how clever! The page you created is fabulous! Makes me think of the Seinfeld episode when Kramer tried to create a perfume that smelled like the beach! And that card is way stinkin' cute!
