Hi everyone! Lots of fun things in store this week! Not only are Stampendous and May Arts teaming up to bring you a week of inspiration and prizes but we're also bringing you sneak peeks at the newest stamps (available after July 15th).
I sat there with a pile of May Arts ribbon just laying on my desk, stamp in hand and trying to decide what I wanted to make. My eyes fell on the brown Solid Crushed ribbon and I couldn't help but think what a cool tree bark that would make. The color and the texture was perfect. I ran some wet adhesive onto the ribbon and began twisting the wide ribbon. The wire helped the adhesive hold and also allowed me to twist and bend the "branch" after it was dry.
The Bird Post image is actually an image of a bird postcard with a collage style to it. I LOVE this stamp! Its one of my favorites from the new releases, but I knew for this project I wanted to use the bird in a setting without the postcard. In order to do that I stamped the bird twice on watercolor. I cut out the bird image and an additional wing and crown from the 2nd stamped image. Next I colored the images in with Derwent and Faber Castell watercolor pencils. When it was dry I added details in with a White sharpie and black pen. I added the wing and crown to the bird with foam adhesive.
Supplies Used
Stampendous Stamps: Poppy Bottles Perfectly Clear Stamps (SSC1092), Scripty Stems Perfectly Clear Stamps (SSC1080), Cling Dream Forever , Cling Bird Post (CRP135) * will be available on the Stampendous website after July 15th *
Ribbon: May Arts Solid Crushed Ribbon AW33 and Solid 2 Tone
Coloring mediums: Derwent and Faber Castell Design Memory Craft watercolor pencils, Sharpie white pen
Ink: Versafine Spanish Moss, Archival Jet Black
Sprays: Tsukineko Sheer Shimmer Spritz (Gold and Sparkle)
To create the background, I painted a wooden plaque with Gesso. When it was dry I scribbled on color with watercolor pencils. I added water to wash the colors together. While the paints were still wet on the piece I sprayed on some Shimmer Spritz. Next I stamped the flowers in Versafine Spanish Moss. All that was left to do was adhere my bird, stamp the sentiment and add a pretty bow!
