Bee my Guest...

Bad play on words (lol) but today I'm so excited to be able to announce that I'm the September Guest Designer at Stampotique!  (squeal) If you haven't checked their site out yet you're missing out! They have some seriously COOL stamps.

I pulled out Big Bee  3008 and Hexagon 3006 to make this card. The Hexagon stamp creates a fabulous beehive image complete with texture and shadowing but I wanted the design of my card to be simpler, so I stamped the image on the backside of the cardstock and cut out the hexagon shapes. I've been wanting to get a hexagon punch to play around with them in layouts. I'm excited to see I can get the same effect with the stamp and scissors instead. I simply laid them out on the card until I found a pattern I was happy with.

I stamped the Big Bee in Archival Ink and then colored him with Derwent watercolor pencils. After he was colored, I cut the image out and adhered it with pop dots.

Seriously cool!
Love the beehive effect with the hexagons! Great idea to stamp the shapes and then cut them out!

Congrats on the guest spot :)
