from hippos to dogs

One of this weeks Rubbernecker stamp challenges is a sketch challenge from SCS. I ended up turning the card and cutting off the corners. I'm not sure about the layout of the card, but I do love the background paper. I simply sprayed Glimmer mist onto damp watercolor paper, splashed a bit of green and blue watercolors on it and then stamped on it after dry. This is the same technique I used for the lighthouse layout. Super simple and such fun bright colors. I case you haven't guessed I love bright colors, lol! I went over the design and added in white gel pen highlights, blending some a bit with my finger to tone them down.

Here you can see details of the white gel pen coloring effect on the stamped image. One of these days I want to try this with bleach instead of a gel pen and see if it works.

Another one of the Rubbernecker challenges was to use ribbon in a unique way. Now I have to apologize in advance because my "model" was not being very cooperative. This bow lasted about 20 seconds before he shook it out. I made the mistake of picking up a biscuit before snapping the photo. happy dog...spin, spin, spin! (note to self: remember to call the pet groomers this week)

The Scotty image was created with shrink plastic. I threaded a elastic through the button, attached the stamped piece to the button front and then simply looped the elastic around the bow. This would be a super simple project to do with the kids, but my boys aren't too into hair bows in their hair (and neither is the dog, LOL!)
