sewing up a storm...

Hope everyone is having a Happy Halloween! I don't know about you but I am exhausted! Just in case the prep leading up to Halloween (like the last minute costume change that involved me stitching together a costume at 9 am, lol) wasn't tiring enough then there is trick or treating. Our town hours are from noon to 6 pm. Thats a LONG time! Our boys didn't stay out the whole time but we sure did alot of walking with them!

Today I'm sharing my last guest DT project for In Style Stamps. As soon as I saw this adorable Tilly image I thought it would be perfect embroidered. One problem....I don't do embroidery. I taped my linen to cardstock and ran it through my printer. I then stitched the design onto the linen using DMC floss. I added some braids instead of the curls. And I omitted the leaves and added Maya Road flowers. I used the linen to sew a small pillow.

Here is a closeup of Tilly with her braids flying in the breeze as she swings from the flowers...

You can find this and lots of other adorable digi and rubber stamps at In Style Stamps.

Wow! You are in serious sewing mode lately. I can't believe you ran that fabric through your printer. What kind of printer do you have?

Pam, its a HP Photosmart D5069. Nothing special, just whatever came with the computer.

It jammed the first 2 times I tried to run it through on copy paper so I used cardstock & taped the fabric an inch down the page. Taped the edges to make sure it didn't get caught. I also lightened the opacity of the image to about 50% so it wouldn't show through my stitches.

WOW, Wendy, this is beautiful! I love how you transformed a stamping image into an embroidered work of art. Thanks for the inspiration!

Great job embroidering that pillow. If I were the one to stitch that up, I'd be backing the camera waaaaay up so noone could see my uneven stitches! But you are justified in throwing in the close-up -- it looks just right.
