Playing with Plaid Paints and Mod Podge

The In Style Stamps team had a chance to play with an assortment of Plaid paints and ModPodge. Mod Podge has always been a staple in my crafting arsenal, but I usually just use it in the traditional way to adhere down paper to projects. I really wanted to find some different ways to use the Mod Podge and paints.

For my first project I created rolled & punched flowers from the paint. (video below) I painted the paint on a nonstick craft mat, smoothed it out and allowed it to dry. After a few hours when it was dry, I peeled it off the mat. I found I was able to punch through the piece of paint (see flower in upper corner heart) and roll it into flowers (see bottom left heart). To add a bit of sparkle to the hearts I painted Sparkle Mod Podge directly onto the hearts.

Wondering how to create those rolled paint flowers? I'll show you how. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the video. Be kind. I'm still trying to find a better editing program to use directly on my ipod.

For my second project I painted the wood base with Plaid Extreme Glitter Paint. Next I used the Outdoor Mod Modge to adhere the stamped image on the wood. I painted over the paper with the Mod Podge to protect it from moisture in the bathroom. Because this is a printed digi image, I was super careful about not using too much Mod Podge over the printed areas. The bubbles were created by dropping drops of Plain and Sparkle Mod Podge onto a non stick craft sheet and allowing to dry. For some of them, I backed them with white paper dots so they showed up better. You can also color the back of the dried Mod Podge drops with Copics. Your own customized dew drops at a fraction of the cost.

Very cool, Wendy. I never would have thought of using the dried paint on the splat mat. Love the "dew drops" idea.
