Stack Art Tombstones

As I pulled out my pack of Stack Art and started layering the chipboard, I saw tombstones. I knew they would be perfect paired with some of the newest Halloween stamps Stampendous just released.

I started by painting a DIY Bangle/3 Ring Circles craft ring with black acrylic paint. Next I wrapped it with strips cut from fiberglass screen window mesh. I have had a roll that DH saved for me sitting around my room for ages now. Love it for Halloween!

Next pull out your chipboard pieces from the Stack Art and start planning your tombstones. I'm going to show you a few techniques you can try to give you different effects and finishes.

I began by painting them with black acrylic paint. Next I stamped on them in Versamark and embossed with embossing powder.

You can leave them like that or grunge them up. I added a coat of white acrylic paint and wiped it off, exposing the embossed stamped images. I went back and added drips of color from Gelatos.

On two of the tombstones (see photo below), I painted the chipboard first with gesso. I dabbed my paintbrush to leave texture and allowed the gesso to dry. The gesso will resist the paint, so when I paint black paint on next and wipe it off it leaves a very light gray stone effect. Again I added drips of Gelato to color.

On the RIP stone to the left in the photo above, I added a few coats of Deep Impression Embossing Enamel and stamped into it. Next I painted it black, added drips of Gelatos and wiped it off. Isn't that a cool effect! The RIP is plastic alphabet stickers that I gessoed and painted.

To grunge up the flowers and tone down the color, I mixed a bit of Deco Art Metallic Lustre in a spray bottle with water. I sprayed my paper flowers first with plain water and then sprayed a bit of the Metallic Lustre spray on them. For the centers of the flowers, I diecut adhesive circles from the scraps of adhesive sheets in the Stack Art kits. Yep, nothing goes to waste! Press them down in the center of the flowers, sprinkle on a bit of Spoonful of Midnight and emboss.

I stamped, colored and fussy cut Tombstone Elements and Tombstone Owl.

I painted sticks and added glitter to them while they were still wet.

Supplies Used:
Stampendous (Tombstone Owl, Tombstone Elements, Black Glitter, Spoonful of Midnight, Stack Art, Deep Impressions Embossing Enamel)
Ranger Archival Ink
DecoArts Metallic Lustre (Black Shimmer)
Derwent Colored Pencils
Heidi Swapp Plastic Alphabet stickers (retired)
