goodbye August...

*NOTE: 2nd post of the day. Scroll down for the Skipping Stones Blog Hop/Candy*

As August comes to a close so does my Guest Design gig at Marks Finest Papers. I've so enjoyed the chance to work with their stamps! A big thank you to Faith and the Design Team for welcoming me on for the month! Thanks!!!

Today I'm sharing two more cards that I designed with this months sets. The first card uses Tweet Blessings. To create the cardbase I splattered watered down distress ink on the card base. Such a cool effect that I'm sure I'll be using again.

This next card uses Regal & Proud and was one of those cards that started out as one idea and totally evolved into something different.  The color combo was one from a SCS challenge.  A hard one, but one that I'm kinda liking!

a pinch for good luck...

(NOTE: 2nd post of day- scroll down for Skipping Stone Designs Sketch Challenge)

Today's card is another that I made for Mark's Finest Papers using the new set Flourished SeaLife.  This week's Speedy the Cat challenge is Harvest. I think they meant it more as in fall harvest but I stretched it a bit to harvesting food. Yep, I've been watching too many episodes of Deadliest Catch. LOL!

I paired it with the chicken wire from the Chicken Scratch stamp set to create the look of a crab trap. The crabs were stamped in brown in and colored with copics and pencils. I went in and gave them some white highlights with a gel pen. The last step was to ink the edges a bit with Antique Linen Distress Ink and give them a coat of Glossy Accents.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Day 4: Mark's Finest Papers Blog Hop

Today is the last day of Mark's Finest Papers Blog Hop. I feel so lucky to have had a chance to join Faith's crew this week for the hop. And I've so enjoyed reading everyone's comments. Thanks for the taking the time to stop by my blog this week! And now onto today's card...

Using Owl Be There, I created a bookmark/card set. The inspiration for this set actually came from one colorful scraps of paper left on my desk after a cardmaking session. I adhered all the strips down and punched circles from the cardstock. The owl was colored with Copics and then adhered to a bookmark embellished with matching cardstock. The sentiment comes from the Ladybugs and Carnations set.

Day 2- Mark's Finest Paper Blog Hop

Welcome back for Day 2 of Mark's Finest Papers Blog Hop! I feel in love with todays set the minute I laid eyes on it...Flourished Sea Creatures! A set full of ocean life...LOVE it! You may remember this set from a sneak peek I posted earlier last week of the three seahorses. Here are two more cards using the set...

This card came about from some Distress Ink experimentation. I did the tap the distress inks on a nonstick sheet, spray with water and smoosh through the paint technique. Is there a name for that? Sure would be alot quicker to say, LOL! After it was dry I went in and stamped some sealife onto the tag. White highlights were added with a gel pen. Its very faint but the seahorses are also stamped in watermark ink on the card base.

This next card is for Speedy the Cat's challenge this week...create your own embellishments. I used some green paper ribbon and cut my seaweed from it.

Here is a closeup of that cute turtle in the set...

I am so excited to be joining the Design Team in the hop this month as a Guest Designer. Today's card uses Tweet Blessings. I stamped the image in black ink and then swiped a rainbow of copics across the image. I partially cuttlebugged the cardbase and added my diecut sentiment in the black area. The sentiment is from the new Cindy Lou Cricut cartridge.

hello August....

I can't believe its August already! Feels like just yesterday the kids were finishing up the school year. I've been looking forward to August because this month I get to play with the Mark's Finest Papers team as a guest designer! I couldn't wait to ink up some new stamps and get started today.

This first card uses a set to be released this month, Flourished Sea Creatures. Both myself and my fish-boy son were super excited to see this ocean life set! He's already completed a card for his dad. I used the SSC Clean and Simple challenge Polka dots as my inspiration for this card. I'm pretty sure seahorses are more brown and plain but I loved the idea of a row of colorful sealife!

This next card is another SSC challenge...Plaid Silhouettes. I had never heard of this technique before but its a fun one for those solid silhouette stamps that we have a hard time using. Basically you ink the stamp completely with the lightest color ink and then using the side of the ink pad add stripes. I used another soon-to-be released MFP set, Tweet Blessings. I hand cut the holly leaves and the berries are Stampendous Class A Peel Dot Sparklers.

Thats it for today, but I've been doing a ton of stamping and have a few secret projects in the works, so I'll have more to share in the coming days! Thanks for stopping by!

Paper Craft Planet and Marks Finest Papers...

Mark's Finest Papers gave us a challenge -- create a project, any project, but it must feature circles. We were up for the task.

The Supernovas are all using stamps from Mark's Finest Papers.

Can't get too much more circle themed than a circle card. :) I actually did this card with last weeks MFP challenge (diecuts) in mind but ended up holding it back for today. I got to work with the Chicken Scratch set. Be prepared to see this chicken wire stamp used alot because I LOVE it! I've actually been wanting a chicken wire stamp for years and I'm so happy I have one now! (squeal) The chickie is from the Create A Critter Cricut cartridge.

This next card was more of a challenge I issued myself. The Chicken Scratch set is adorable with its roosters and chicken images, but I wanted to see if I could use it in a way other than that. Keeping with the circle theme I think this card does just that. I stamped the chicken wire stamp and cut various circles out. They're all mounted on pop dots.

This last card I had a blast coloring the rooster image in with my colored pencils. My youngest didn't think he should have green in him, but what does he know....city boy! LOL! We actually had chickens when I was growing up but I can't say I really remember what colors they were specifically. I just knew I wanted him to be colorful. There is that chicken wire again. ;)

OK, now it's your turn! Make a card with a circle on it and you could win the Apples and Camellia Stamp Set from Mark's Finest Papers. All you need to do is tag your card "mfp01" and upload it to the Planet. We'll be keeping an album for everyone that shows off all the entries so far!
