Laguna Surf...

Today I'm sharing another peek at one of the new Sheena A Little Bit Sketchy stamp sets... Laguna Surf. As soon as I saw this image, I knew I wanted to try coloring it with the Spectrum Noir pencils on Kraft cardstock. I love the look of colored pencils on kraft!

social butterfly...

The other day I mentioned the new pencils that I was experimenting with, Koh-i-noor woodless pencils. On the other card, I blended the colors with a blending stump and baby oil. For todays card I used a different method of blending them. After stamping my image in Stazon, I colored in sections with pencils, using white to blend the colors. The leads are so soft in comparison to the crayola and kids pencils that I've used in the past. The colors blend beautifully. I lay down a bit of white, go over it with a light color and then blend those out with white. Next I would add in a bit darker color at the edges, again blending that color in with either the white or the light color. For the lines that looked a bit to hazy from the colored pencils on them, I simply went over top of them with a black marker.

High Hopes Stamps has a cool sketch up on their blog as a challenge for a GDT call. I'd keep my fingers crossed but its kinda hard to stamp that way. Would love to get the chance to play with their stamps...cute, cute images! This is the sketch I used for the card. Instead of the bottom panel, I added the outline of stitching. This allowed me to follow the layout without covering up too much of that pretty pattern paper.

a bit of coloring fun...

I've been drooling over Copics for awhile now but when I started adding up all the basic colors that I wanted I realized that the little bit of Christmas money I had burning a whole in my pocket wasn't going to cover it. Add in the fact that I couldn't find any inks that would work with the Copics locally and I wasn't even sure I would like the markers, I started looking for other options. I saw some excellent tutorials on GinaK & Hero Arts blog's on the Koh-i-door & Prismacolor pencils. The Koh-i-door woodless pencils had gorgeous rich colors, were economical and they would work with the supplies I already had on hand. I was able to pick up a set of 24 for under $9 with a coupon at my local craft store. So bear with me, because you might be seeing alot of them in the coming weeks.

Todays card is using the kids in the Lizzie Anne Designs School Days set. I used the Koh-i-door pencils on them and blended the colors with baby oil. The faces were watercolored because there is no skin tones in the set. I'm going to have to look into adding some Prismacolor pencils to my collection to fill out the colors.

supplies used:
pattern paper: Cosmo Cricket
ribbon: American Craft
button: Autumn Leaves

Be sure to stop back in a few days when I share another card using a different way to blend the pencils. Have a great Friday!!!
