This weekend brought some down time and I was able to whip up two cards for the challenge. I challenged myself a bit more to use the sun image as anything other than a sun. Heres what I came up with....

I have to apologize for the sentiment on the card. I really was not meaning for it to be cocky, but more a card for a rebellious teen to give another rebellious teen, ie. the purple hair. Clear Dollar Stamps has a challenge to use purple in your card, so that would be the reason for all that purple in the card. I freely stitched on a piece of pattern paper and used that as the background paper. I stamped the sun twice, cut out the rays (or spiky hair), colored them purple and layered them behind the smirky face from Todays Forecast.

stamps: Molly Stamps Todays Forecast & Post Office
rubon: Scenic Route
Now for my next card, I had this idea in my head that I wanted to be able to create a flower out of the image. See the only problem with that is that the sun image is only half a sun with lettering around it. With a bit of creative masking I was able to stamp the sun image twice to create the flower. I drew some grass and clouds on pattern paper and cut them out. The sentiments are from the Todays Forecast set and I just added the boxes in with pen. The check mark was a rubon letter l that I cut and rearranged.

Here is a closeup of the sun, I mean flower...

Thats it for today, but be sure to stop by again soon. It won't be long now before I have sneak peeks for both Molly Stamps and Lizzie Anne Designs. I love sneak peeks times! And I have some really big news to share!!!! ;-)

Very cute and creative - it makes a great flower.
That purple haired dude looks mighty smug - perfect card for a teanager I think!
Cute card Wendy. Love the free form stitching... I know when quilting that is a hard thing to do. Love the look of it though.
I like the sun as a flower, although the purple card is quite creative as well. Very cool.
Oh my gosh, this is the cutest flower ever! How can it not put a smile in your day!
