On the 1st day of Christmas...

Last year, Paper Craft Planet celebrated the 12 Days of Christmas by hosting 12 days of challenges with prizes all along the way. This year, we thought we'd make it a little easier! The Super Novas will show you 12 days worth of awesome and easy gift giving ideas, and you can play along and win prizes by participating in a scavenger hunt! Keep reading for a clue and chance to win!

Today, I'm leading us off with this quick ornament you can create using any clear storage cube.

They sell these clear boxes at the Container Store. They are by Amac and come in a variety of sizes and colors. But if you don't have a Container Store by you, take a second look in your craft supplies at some of the product packaging. You may just have something on hand that will also work. The idea for this project came from an ornament I made a few years back using a dollar store button container.

To begin with I cut a piece of cardstock to fit inside the box, approximately 1 inch square. I stamped it and embossed snowflakes in Stampendous Crystal EP on it using one of the new Lizzie Anne December Monthly Mix images. Using the birch trees from Stampendous' Birch Buddies set, I stamped some trees on brown cardstock, cut them out and added shadows with colored pencils. I found a bird in the Mocha Chica Kim Hughes set that was the perfect size and stamped that twice on white cardstock. I colored them with colored pencils, cut out one of the entire birds and the wing of the second bird. Now came the fun part of piecing everything together. I started layering the elements on the background sheet with foam adhesive.

On the back, I've added the date to a photo of my kids and resized it down to 1 inch. I printed this out and adhered it to the pattern paper with pop dots.

To finish off the box, hide the layers of foam tape and give it something to hang it with, after putting the lid on I wrapped around the box with ribbon. All that was left to do was stamp a sentiment on the outside of the box in Stazon and add a bit of tulle.

Today's scavenger hunt is sponsored by Stampendous! You could win an AWESOME prize if you can solve our clue...

"To win today, you must search
for a bird who in a tree is perched.
Not just any bird will do,
this one has a piece of fruit too.
If you find it, link it here
and you might win and all will cheer! "

Find a product on the Stampendous! website that fits the clue and you could be our winner! Leave a comment here with your answer. We will pick a random winner for all the CORRECT entries on December 2nd.

So I went back to stampendous to have a nose around, and I found the same stamp with almost the same number. It's P111-R. I didn't know if you wanted the Christmas one or the regular one, although they are both the same! So I think I've covered them all! :) Thanks so much for the fun!
