Tonight I have some bittersweet news to share. One of our Paper Craft Planet Super Novas, Melanie Muenchinger, is leaving the Planet. Melanie has been on the Paper Craft Planet Design team since the Planet launched last year, but with mounting family and designing commitments, she needs to scale back on her other teams to focus on illustrating for Gina K Designs. But since this is not really “goodbye”, the PCP ladies are throwing a little going away "Best Wishes"bash in the form of a blog hop today featuring two sets designed by Melanie: " A Year of Leaves” or “School, Sports, Spirit!”
Gina K is sponsoring a challenge this week on Paper Craft Planet with a chance to win one of Melanie’s newest sets! Upload a new project you create with a "Best Wishes" or good luck theme to the PCP gallery by Monday night 10PM EST, with the tag GKDBW. (Here is a tutorial on adding pictures to the gallery, if you need it.)
A winner will be announced Tuesday, that person will win their choice of “"A Year of Leaves” or "School, Sports,Spirit!” Hope you will play the challenge!
Our theme for this blog hop was supposed to be best wishes but instead I choose to work with a sentiment that I love! "What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly." I just thought it was the perfect sentiment as we wish Melanie good luck. I'm sad to see you leaving us, Melanie but I know you're going to do fantastic things. Go be a butterfly girl!!! We'll be there cheering you on!
I originally thought I would try melting crayon shavings between wax paper, stamping the leaves on the paper and cutting them out. Just didn't quite turn out as I remembered it from my own kindergarden days. Plus some of the crayons must have had a low wax content because they weren't really melting well. whats up with that?! LOL! So I stamped the leaves in Stazon on muslin, cut them out and painted modpodge on them. The modpodge gave them some stability so I could shape them a bit. I added a slight wash of watercolors once dry. The butterfly rubon is by Royal and Langnickle.

Today is a card that I made using Lauren Meaders weekend sketch. Yes, its missing that little embellishment in the corner, but I couldn't really find anything that matched. I'll probably find the perfect embellishment after I mail it out, LOL! ok, lets see. That brings me up to 4 Christmas cards done, way too many still left to do and mail out. How does everyone feel about New Years cards? ;)
This next card doesn't use the sketch, but I was just having fun coloring the images that I had to keep going. Two Christmas cards done...too many more to go. Think I'll get them all done by Thanksgiving weekend? LOL!
