Bee Mine

Happy Valentines Day! Today I'm sharing a Valentine theme layout I created for Clear Scraps featuring their XL Scallops  Shape and the Pennant Embellishments. 

I used my new favorite find, Rust-o-leum Frosted Glass Spray to give the acrylic piece a frosted look. 

On the acrylic pennant embellishments, I spread Dreamweavers Translucent Embossing Paste through the 6 x 6 Chicken Wire Mascil. It reminds me of a honeycomb design so I thought it would go perfect with the bees. While it was still wet, I sprinkled glitter on the pennants. 

The bees are from the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge. I have been thinking of selling off all my Cricut cartridges since I I have the Silhouette now, but I forgot how much I love the CAC cartridge. Cute stuff! 

The diecut hearts are from Crafters Companion new Bebunni Heart Metal Dies.

Supplies Used: 

Clear Scraps 12” Gears Mascil, Clear, Scraps 12 x 12 Acrylic Sheets, Clear Scraps Square Borders, Bazzill Cardstock, Ranger (Black Soot Distress Ink), Tsukineko (Memento, StazOn inks, Goosebumps ), Stampendous Gears Kiddo Perfectly Clear Stamps, Cricut Nate’s ABC’s Cartridge, Basic Grey pattern paper, Copics, staples

Instructions:

1. Ink background cardstock with Black Soot Distress Ink over the Gears Mascil. 

2. Remove mask and flick water over inked image to create distressed effect.

3. Cut title from the background cardstock using Nate’s ABC’s cartridge. Be sure to save the centers of letters.

4. Cut a piece of acrylic sheet to fit behind title. Spray with Goosebumps to add texture to the acrylic sheet. Allow to dry.

5. Adhere to the back of the layout behind cutout title, creating a window effect on the layout. 

6. Stamp gears and color with Copics. Cut out

7. Adhere pattern paper, stamped images, and photo to layout.

8. Ink Clear Scrap Acrylic Square Border with Black StazOn.  Trim and staple to layout.

There is the image transfer on the "Y" pendant! I gave a soft slightly distressed look which was exactly what I was looking for to go with these vintage inspired papers!

CreativeXpress DT project- Nate's ABC

Was so excited to see that my April project for CreativeXpress is featured as their Project of the Month! Pretty cool! These altered ABC blocks would be super cute as a kids room decoration! They were alot of fun to make! 

I painted some wooden blocks and decorated them with American Craft papers and diecuts from Nate's ABC cartridge. For complete instructions be sure to visit the CreativeXpress website under Project of the Month. 

Nate's ABC Cricut cartridge has some adorable cut images on it and a very versatile alphabet. If you're looking for more girly images be sure to check out Kate's ABCs Cricut cartridge.

That quail and volkswagon there are two of my absolute favorite cuts on the cartridge. Aren't they cute?!

Took a little break from blogging but I'm back today with a card that I did Kreaxions! Be sure to check out the Just Imagine - Kreaxions blog for a tutorial on how to create the scallop border using the Circle Cutter. 

The birdie is from the newer Cricut cartridge, Nates ABC's. Gotta love googly eyes! Wish a manufacturer out there would start making teeny tiny googly eyes! 

Lizzie Anne Design Team Challenge...

Good morning! Busy day here on the blog with a couple of fun posts. First up is this months Design Team Challenge for Lizzie Anne! We were given the challenge....TAGS! 

I used a sentiment from the December Mix, Warmest Wishes and created a banner for that sweet little mouse to hold. The mouse is a cut from the Create-A-Critter Cricut cartridge. The papers (American Crafts & Imaginisce) were scraps I literally pulled out of the trash can from other projects I've been working on.

the adventures of BATBOY...

Very excited to be able to share with you some CreativeXpress projects. There was a bit of a glitch but now the blog is back up and functioning! Today's layout is one I made back in February using the Batman Cricut cartridge.

I had a blast working on this layout!!! It called for a photography session with my youngest and his batman costume. I photographed everything in front of a painters drop cloth. Later I picked out my favorites and began editing. In photoshop, I "cut" out the background of the photos. I could have skipped photographing against the white drop cloth, but it made it alot easier to see when using the clipping tool in photoshop.

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Its getting close to Christmas in July, too soon for some Christmas inspiration? I recently had the opportunity to make up some samples for Stampendous and I have the ok to go ahead and share some samples with you.

I had alot of fun playing around with different stamp images to create the scene. The logs were from the birch trees in Birch Buddies. The flame is actually part of the ribbon in Festive Fluffles. The brick wall was created by using a Batman brick wall cut as a stencil and inking through it with Distress inks.

Good morning! Its time for another Stampendous Challenge! This weeks sketch is created by the talented Cyndi. Scroll down to check out the actual sketch. I strayed a bit from the sketch. Ok, maybe a lot. LOL! Instead of the vertical strips of paper/ribbon I substituted them with some holly stamps. Instead of the rectangle panel, I used a strip of green cardstock across the entire middle.

stamps: Stampendous (Cling Short Moose, Snowy Short Stacks Perfectly Clear Stamps, Festive Fluffles)

stickers: Class A Peel (Dot Sparklers-Red)

coloring medium: Copics, Ranger Adirondack inks

I used the recipe from this weeks Southern Breezes challenge; 3 layers (does not include base card), 3 circles & 1 repeating image. The red circle, the green panel and the moose count as 3 layers. The 3 circles are the berry Dot Sparklers stickers. The repeating image would be the holly running up the background.

I'm also entering this in the Fantabulous Cricut Crawl. I used Sammye Jo's challenge of inking/drawing on diecuts. I cut the holly from the Winter Woodland cartridge from white cardstock. Next I inked it up with Lettuce and Citrus Adirondack inks.

time to relax...

Spent a relaxing Mothers Day driving around through the pineys of Jersey, looking for fishing spots, playing referee to two boys fighting in the backseat (ok, that part wasn't so relaxing, LOL!), visiting my not-so local stamp store, chowing down on Chinese food and just doing absolutely nothing! And it was perfect! This time of the year we spend so much time rushing from one activity to the next its nice to just relax and spend time together.

I have two more samples from the newest Practicing Creativity Designs set, You're The Man to share today. On this first card I inked up just part of the tire image and stamped it on either side of the sentiment. Because they're clear stamps, its really easy to see and line up. Super simple one layer design!

This next card uses the starburst from the Just Dandy set along with the sentiment from You're The Man. To create the background on the card, I cut the design out on the cricut and used that paper as a stencil to ink Versamark on the cardfront. In the centers I stamped the starburst. Before you throw away those scraps from your diecuts think about using them as stencils in this way.

Well its back to work and school tomorrow for everyone. Enough relaxing its time to tackle that laundry and get everyone ready for tomorrow. Happy Mothers Day!

I'm your #1 fan...

Won't be long before Valentines Day is here. Time to get busy stamping out those valentine cards. Here is another card that I made using Lizzie Anne's new Sixlet set, A Little Love.

The soccer ball was inked with Veramark and then red craft ink. This allowed me to emboss it with crystal EP. The scallop heart shapes were cut using the Gypsy Wandering cartridge on the Gypsy. I added some grass in watercolor. The motion lines of the ball were created with a piercer. Neither one of my boys wanted any parts of a pink, frilly valentine to give out so I guess this one will be going to my hubby. LOL!

Just a quick post for today. The kids are back in school and I have a house waiting to be cleaned up and straightened. Fun FUN! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Happy Birthday CX & Cricut fun....

I know. I know. I said I had some exciting news and then I disappear for a week. Well I didn't really disappear I've just been busy running around getting the kids ready for school. Someone needs to remind me next year that the day before school starts is not the day to begin looking for school shoes. I really dislike shopping and shopping with kids....hate it! Ok, enough about my lame excuses. My big news....

I made this years CreativeXpress Design Team!!!! I am so excited because I get to play with all those cool cricut cartridges. Love my cricut!!! Well I can't exactly post with out some eye candy, so how about a fun cricut project. As I mentioned a few posts ago, I had the pleasure of working with Grafix for a Scrapfriends review. Did you know that shrink plastic can be cut in the Cricut. Sure can! You just want to recut the plastic to be sure to cut all the way through it.

This pear is from the Home Accents cartridge. I cut the pear out of green, yellow, red and orange Grafix. I shrunk the pieces down in the oven. You can also use your heat gun. After they were cool, I sanded all the pieces, not only to give them a cool matte finish but also to compensate for any twisting and distortion when shrinking. Glue them all together, add a pin to the back and you have a cute pin.

For this next project I cut various circles out of the white Grafix using the Cricut. I shrunk them down and while they were still hot, stamped into the plastic leaving an impression. Fun technique! Be sure to check out the Scrapfriends site to check out all the Grafix reviews.
